Sadly, I didn't ask about books published in 1924. (Did I? I'm on my Kindle, I can't easily check.) I meant books published in 1923 -- i.e. the ones that would have been eligible for the 1924 Newbery along with "The Dark Frigate". :P
I'm still adding The Boxcar Children to the Mock Newberys of the Past, though! GOOD SUGGESTION. I did not realize the series started that long ago.
